Q: Do I need insurance to receive care at Novus ACS?
A: No. While we are beginning to participate with insurance companies, we still offer all services at a low cost for patients who are not insured and under-insured.
Q: Does NovusACS accept walk in appointments?
A: We only accept walk-ins for our free STD/HIV testing program (Mon-Sat 9am til 2pm). All primary care or sick visits require an appointment. We do everything in our control to see a sick patient on the day they call the office.
Q: Is Novus handicapped accessible?
A: Currently, there is no wheelchair ramp access to the office. However we will attempt to assist you in any way that we are able.
Q: Is Novus able to accommodate the bariatric patient?
A: We are limited at to our ability to care for bariatric patients. For safety reasons, the exam tables and waiting room furniture at Novus are limited to a 400lb capacity.
Q: How much is a visit to the nurse practitioner?
A: Most simple visits are around $45.00 or less depending on your health care needs.
Q: How do I pay for my services?
A: Novus accepts cash, most major credit cards, and personal checks.
Q: What are the hours at NovusACS?
A: The office is open from Monday through Friday 9AM to 4PM. Saturdays 9am to 2pm. Walk in hours for testing are Monday through Saturday 9am to 2pm.
Q: Can I get my prescriptions from NovusACS?
A: Our NP's can prescribe everything except cancer treatment drugs. (note exceptions may apply)
Q: Is HIV testing available?
A: Yes, HIV testing is available. Walk-ins are welcome from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday to Saturday. Appointments are available at later times.
Q: How many times can I be tested for HIV at NovusACS in one year?
A: Generally, HIV testing is limited to every 90 days.
Q: If I am HIV positive, can I be treated at NovusACS?
A: Yes, Allen is able to provide comprehensive medical care and offer referrals as needed.
Q: Can I get tested for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) at NovusACS?
A: YES! NovusACS is a Pennsylvania Health Department sponsored STD testing and treatment center. Testing is FREE and can be anonymous or confidential. The screenings include Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Syphilis and HIV. The screening takes about 20min. Results in 3 to 4 days.
Q: What are the hours for STD testing?
A: Walk-ins welcome Monday through Sat 9am to 2pm. Appointments available for later times.
Q: How much will it cost to be checked for an STD?
A: Testing for Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Syphilis and HIV are FREE! Testing for Herpes 1/2 IgG antibody is $50.
Q: How old do I need to be to receive care at Novus?
A: As a rule, adult nurse practitioners are able to care for patients over the age of 12 with parental consent. However, in the testing and treatment of STDs no parental consent is required.
Q: Is my medical information secure?
A: Novus is a paperless office. Therefore, most patient information is stored on a remote and secure server. Any printed information with patient identifiers is kept under lock and key.
Q: Can I be seen at NovusACS if I am not LGBT?
A: NovusACS welcomes all patients regardless of sexual expression or preference.
Q: Can I bring my partner or family member with me in the examination?
A: Yes. We encourage patients to bring someone to provide support and participate in their health care.
