Dr. Lisa A. Spacek, MD, PhD
As Chief Medical Officer of Novus ACS, Dr. Lisa A. Spacek, MD, PhD, brings over 25 years of experience in Infectious Disease and Internal Medicine, with a career rooted in HIV care that began in 1997 at Johns Hopkins Hospital during a pivotal time in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Board-certified in both specialties, she has dedicated her life to advancing care for LGBTQ+ individuals, underserved communities, and those living with HIV.
Dr. Spacek earned both her MD and PhD in Public Health from The Ohio State University College of Medicine, graduating summa cum laude. Her work in global health includes groundbreaking HIV research in Uganda, where she developed clinical algorithms for HIV treatment in resource-limited settings, earning recognition and funding from the NIH and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
As the former Director of the HIV Ambulatory Care Program at Thomas Jefferson University, Dr. Spacek expanded access to care, implementing innovative programs that ensured rapid antiretroviral therapy initiation and comprehensive services for uninsured and underinsured patients. Her leadership helped establish Jefferson as a center of excellence in HIV care.
A Fellow of the Infectious Diseases Society of America, Dr. Spacek is highly respected in her field. She has authored over 60 publications in esteemed medical journals, contributed extensively to the Johns Hopkins HIV and Antibiotic Guides, which are widely utilized by medical professionals globally, and presented her research nationally and internationally.
